Mockup of walk of hunger map

WALK OF HUNGER

Brief: Project: Create a map documenting observations of Chinatown in Sydney CBD’s Haymarket.

Deliverables: A visually engaging observation map.  This project aims to enhance understanding of urban visual communication and its role in shaping perceptions of place.

Concept: After exploring and documenting Chinatown Haymarket, I was particularly drawn to the 'Tumbalong Heritage Artwork' by Chris Yee and Art Pharmacy. I created a visual map highlighting various eateries surrounding this artwork within the same block. This map showcases a cohesive illustrative style while providing real context by linking the illustrations to their true locations.

Made with: Procreate & Photoshop

PROCESS

Map designed with a meandering path around Hay Street, highlighting various eateries through 2D illustrations, inspired by my love for logos and branding. Within this walk, I began at the beautiful Tumbalong Heritage Artwork by @yeetheeast and worked my way around the block inspired by hunger and design.

Documentation of various eateries and concept map.
