chance and choice zine

the brief

The brief was to design a zine that was the result of chance, through interaction with AI programs, like random number generators and AI image generators, and choice, based on the subjective desires of us as the designer.

The zine was to communicate with the audience the personality of a society generated through these chances and choices.

My concept was to communicate a future, collectivist society, that was smaller than humans, in its nuances and secrets, through the form of collaged comic. ‘Utopia’s personality was built from chance, and its presentation as a comic came from personal choice. The naivety of the comic style I ended up with enhanced the gradual infusing into darkness the audience experiences when travelling throughout this world. I believed this misleading visual style would assist the shock as the user delves deeper and deeper into the truths about ‘Utopia’.
