the brief

This brief required us to look at projects we had completed over the past year, and either re-do, or extend on them in some way. It required that we engage with skills learnt and expanded upon in the previous semesters.

My idea was to combine elements from different projects, ultimately creating a series of Instagram stories featuring a kinetic typography-based poem. My concept was to use the ideas communicated in sections of the text ‘As short’ by Stan Burriss (2007) and represent them visually in moving type.

The Instagram stories play into the sporadic, fun, and exciting way in which Burriss presents his poem, taking my audience through a rollercoaster of anticipation and excitement. My stories play with scale, movement, shape, and colour to conceptually connect the audience with the poem.
