In this project, I drew inspiration from Diane Arbus’s Woman Carrying a Child in Central Park, NYC to explore themes of familial love and connection. I re-edited my archival images of my mother and grandmother, cropping and resizing to heighten intimacy, reduce blurriness, and convey a spontaneous, authentic bond. By reframing Arbus’s techniques in a familiar setting, I could emphasise the joy and warmth in maternal relationships, merging storytelling with photographic detail.
