Using skills learnt in my fabrication workshop induction I aimed to create a colourful poster reflecting on interconnectedness.
Zawadi ni tunda la moyo, a Swahili phrase meaning 'A gift is fruit from the heart'
To understand interconnectedness in design I searched personally at the craft that has surrounded me growing up and the vibrant, rich culture attatched. The colourful crafted materials such as kanga, a textile printing style of coastal Kenya symbolise the thread that ties me back to my ethnic culture. In this poster design I intended to interconnect a traditional Kenyan style with my own contemporary perspective. The final design is a bold and fun experience paying homage to the traditions surrounded textile art.
