02 Typographic Grids

Brief

Brief: Design a double-page spread for a hypothetical design publication. Before that undertake a series of exercises designed to develop an understanding of and confidence in working with typographic grids.

Find magazines with good typeset and collage grids together with tempelate.

Design 3 grids of your own.

Using real text design a typographic grid for print and screen.

Rationale

On-screen the line of sight is vertical as you scroll, which is why the text is spread lengthwise. On print, the line of sight is horizontal making the paragraphs wide. Text for both is kept within two columns so it is easier on the eyes when being read.
